Description

Here is  the NGC 5466 globular cluster located about 52000 light years away in Bootes and estimated to be about 13.5 billions years old.
RR Lyrae variables are periodic variable stars commonly found in globular clusters and used as standard candles to measure (extra) galactic distances. One of them called Cl* NGC 5466 FSBHB V4 appears here in a green cast because its variability was detected during the multiple exposures on the cluster during one week. Indeed RR Lyrae have relatively short luminosity variation, between 0.2 and 1.1 days, which can therefore be seen over a complete cycle in a single night.
I let it as it appeared after sPCC or PCC color calibration cause i found it to give a nice original touch to the picture, although of course in reality there is no green stars ;-)
